Conamara UnConstrained
Artist Statement:
This exhibition is a personal and passionate response to the landscape of Conamara. Working in oils, acrylics, mixed media, and across various scales, I move between abstract and semi-abstract expressions. I am not painting what the land looks like, but what it feels like to stand within it.
The familiar hues, wild textures, and echoing forms of the West of Ireland are all here—but seen through my eyes. This body of work gives precedence to the mountains of Conamara, allowing them to rise unconstrained by boundaries or frame, emerging raw and elemental from the earth.
This is not polite landscape painting. Conamara demanded a wildness of method—a bold, unrestrained approach that mirrors the untamed nature of the place itself. There is such beauty here, but also something deeper: something ancient, mysterious, and unknowable. These paintings seek to honour that essence.
I invite you to come without preconceptions. Let the colours, shapes, and layers speak for themselves.
